Lithium-ion battery

The lithium-ion battery is used to store the energy that powers the electric car’s engine. This technology basically relies on the back-and-forth exchange of lithium ions between a positive electrode (the cathode) and a negative electrode (the anode), both located on either side of a separator immersed in liquid (the electrolyte). The circulation of these ions generates an electric current, used to power the engine. Lithium-ion technology is safe and proven, and does not need to be kept warm when in parked mode, unlike other technologies. All electric cars from the Groupe Renault come equipped with it.
