WLTP, or Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure, is the updated approval protocol for new vehicles, effective September 1, 2018. The WLTP protocol measures the fuel consumption, as well as the pollutant and CO2 emissions, in the case of an internal combustion engine vehicle, and the range in the case of an electric vehicle. The WLTP protocol replaces the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) protocol. Its primary objective is to provide data more reflective of a customer’s actual use, through standardised test conditions that more accurately represent the realities of driving.
