In 2017, across all of Europe, the electric commercial vehicle market counted some 16,000 sales, a 30% increase compared to 2016. With its wide range of electric commercial vehicles, consisting of Kangoo Z.E., Master Z.E., Twizy Cargo, but also “company” ZOEs and ZOEs transformed to meet professional needs, Renault Pro+ is the market leader for the fifth consecutive year.
In 2017, Renault Pro+ had a 30.2% market share for electric commercial vehicles, corresponding to the sale of around 5,000 vehicles.
Since 2011, Kangoo Z.E. has been the best-selling electric commercial vehicle in Europe. With the launch of the new Z.E. 33 battery, the sales of Kangoo Z.E.s have doubled when compared to the same period of the previous year.
It’s nice progress for this electric vehicle, whose latest version can offer, in real conditions, a battery life exceeding two hours for a delivery route*.
This performance is thanks to the new “Z.E. 33” battery that provides 33 kWh, and to the high energy efficiency R60 motor with 44 kW (60 hp), derived from the ZOE’s R90 motor. The Kangoo Z.E. is also equipped with a next generation 7 kW charger. As a result, the Renault van can be fully recharged in 6 hours with a 7.4 kW WallBox, in all countries with grids that accept 32A single phase plugs.
Completely adaptable, the Kangoo Z.E. can be transformed into a refrigerated vehicle, ambulance or even a pickup truck, for example.
Ranking number 3 in European sales for its category, the combustion-engine version of the Master broke sales records in 2017, with 97,000 units sold around the world. It’s a success story that can be partially explained by the reliability of Renault vans. Consider as evidence that the Master was awarded the number 1 spot for “TOP RELIABILITY,” in Germany in 2016 and 2017 by the vehicle inspection company DEKRA. This ranking rewards the most reliable lightweight vans in the “0 to 50,000 km” and “50,000 to 100,000 km” categories.
The arrival of the Master Z.E., its 100% electric twin, has been highly anticipated. It brings numerous advantages with it, to meet the same success in the coming years. PostNL, the Dutch version of Royal Mail, was the first postal service to test it out, by acquiring a Master Z.E. fleet last May.
Particularly well-suited to last-kilometre delivery, the Master Z.E. comes in a wide range of models with 6 different versions, 4 of which are “panel vans” and 2 of which are “platform cabs”, so as to meet many diverse needs. The panel vans offer a usable volume of 8 to 13 m3 and a payload capacity of 1 to 1.1 tons.
Like the Kangoo Z.E., the Master Z.E. also comes equipped with the Z.E. 33 battery offering 33 kWh as well as the high energy efficiency R75 motor inherited from the ZOE, with 57 kW of power, the equivalent of 76 hp. These are all features that should allow for a steady increase in sales of this electric van over the next few months.
The Tom Thumb of the Renault range of electric commercial vehicles, the Twizy Cargo sold more than 200 units in Europe in 2017. Renault’s urban quadricycle has a payload capacity of 156 litres, or 75 kilograms. The right size for a good number of last-kilometre deliveries in an urban area!
*Delivery route: real route that corresponds to a professional user making deliveries during a journey of 107 km in a peri-urban setting and on expressways in 2 hours and 25 minutes.
