With almost 10,000 newly registered vehicles in France at the end of August, the Renault ZOE is by far the best-selling electric car for the first half of 2018.

How can electric mobility transition best be attained in the country where the ZOE and Kangoo Z.E. electric vehicles are designed, engineered and manufactured? Not only Renault’s domestic market, France is also the European country with the third most electric vehicles, after Norway and Germany.

And here are the results: In 2018, Renault’s little city car takes first place in the French electric vehicle market.

ZOEs accounted for more than half of all electric vehicle sales to private consumers over the first six months of the year. About 15,000 electric vehicles were registered for personal use during the first six months of the year, up 6% over the past year.

The increase in the rate of sales was particularly high in June, which alone accounted for 3,240 new electric vehicle registrations. Among those registrations, more than 2,000 were ZOEs, representing an impressive 60% market share.

The Kangoo Z.E. leads the electric van market

As they seek to optimise their travel and operations, businesses can’t help but notice the benefits of going electric. With more than 9,000 new vehicle registrations in the first half of 2018, the electric van market has seen a spectacular increase of almost 40% when compared to the first sixth months of 2017.

In this sector, more than 3,500 of those registrations are of a Kangoo Z.E., which means that the Renault mini-van accounts for 2 out of every 5 sales in the first half of 2018!
