Renault E-TECH, the smart choice

Published by on 05.15.2020 - 2 min

Renault’s E-TECH hybrid range has the versatility needed to adapt to every need, be it for city driving or over longer distances. Above all, it provides drivers with real fuel savings as our E-TECH engines are able to maximise the time you spend driving in electric mode. Now that is smart!

E-TECH, the short read

First, E-TECH is our name for a brand-new hybrid powertrain. An exclusive, innovative technology born of Groupe Renault’s expertise in electric vehicles. There is also a strong contribution from the Renault DP World F1 Team, with its years of experience in energy management. It is based on a “series-parallel” hybrid architecture that offers the maximum number of combinations of its three engines. In other words, its petrol engine and two electric engines can run simultaneously or independently.
This hybridisation offer is designed to be affordable for and accessible to the widest possible public. This is why it is making its first appearance in Renault’s three best sellers: the Clio E-TECH, the New Captur E-TECH Plug-in and the New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in.

Maximum driving time in all-electric mode …

Groupe Renault is the pioneer and the expert in electric mobility. So we have what it takes to design hybrid engine combinations that maximise the use of the electric engines.
This means that the Clio E-TECH can run at up to 80% of driving time in electric mode in the urban cycle. For the New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in and the New Captur E-TECH Plug-in, the electric range extends to 65 kilometres in urban use and 50 kilometres in mixed use (WLTP*).

… and minimum fuel consumption

Even on long journeys, energy consumption is managed, so when you drive an E-TECH vehicle, you keep your CO2emissions and enjoy significant fuel savings.
With the New Clio E-TECH, for example, you’ll save up to 40% in the urban cycle (compared with a conventional ICE vehicle). It delivers a mixed consumption of 4.5 l/100 km, with emissions of 96 g of CO2/km.
On the New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in, mixed consumption is a mere 1.5 l/100 km, with emissions of less than 30 g of CO2/km, whilst the New Captur E-TECH Plug-in uses 1.5 l/100 km for 32 g of CO2/km.
Offering a real alternative to ICE vehicles, the E-TECH range complements the electrification offer from the Renault stable with a range of economical vehicles that have the versatility to cope with the demands that you make of your car every day. Put simply, it’s a smart purchase.

* The WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) range corresponds to a normalized cycle: 57% urban driving, 25% suburban driving, 18% highway driving.
