For the first time, the Clio range includes a “full hydride” version called “E-TECH Hybrid“. It offers unprecedented driving pleasure and a unique experience, thanks to its extended electric driving capability and instantaneous responsiveness when starting and accelerating.

The Clio E-TECH Hybrid perfectly embodies the Renault Group’s idea of connected, electric and autonomous mobility. Indeed, this model has the most advanced driving aids in its segment, with the Traffic and Highway Assistant in particular, which corresponds to a level 2 autonomy. With its large 9.3-inch screen and the Renault CONNECT connected offer, it also benefits from very rich multimedia possibilities.

Engine

Clio’s E-TECH Hybrid engine is based on a new-generation 4-cylinder 1.6 petrol engine from the Alliance and adapted to hybrid technology. It comes with two electric motors – an “e-engine” and a high-voltage starter generator (HSG) – powered by a 1.2 kWh (230V) battery and an innovative multimode clutchless multi-mode gearbox. With a total power output of 140 hp, it offers maximum efficiency in use with market-leading dynamic responsiveness, achieved by shifting from 80 to 120 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.

Fuel consumption

Regenerative braking, combined with the high self-recharge capacity of the 1.2 kWh (230V) batteries and the efficiency of the E-TECH system optimizes consumption. This means that up to 80% of driving time in the city can be obtained with all-electric power, for a fuel consumption gain of up to 40% compared with an internal combustion engine in the urban cycle. In the combined cycle, Clio E-TECH Hybrid consumes 4.3 litres/100 km and emits 96 grams of CO2/km (WLTP values).

Recharge

No cord or plug is needed to recharge the Clio E-TECH Hybrid battery: it is automatically recharged while driving. At deceleration, when the driver lifts his foot off the accelerator pedal and the car is in freewheeling mode or braking, the electric motor works like a generator to convert the energy produced by the rotation of the wheels into electricity. A “B” position on the automatic transmission lever activates advanced regeneration, further optimizing the amount of energy returned to the battery.

Versatility

The trunk volume is not amputated by the batteries (300 liters), the rear seat remains foldable and the space for the spare wheel is preserved. By combining comfort and performance, it offers dynamic performance worthy of the upper segment. In the E-TECH Hybrid version, Clio remains faithful to the versatility that has been its DNA for 30 years.

Driving modes

The MULTI-SENSE settings allow the driver to choose a driving mode according to his mood or the road profile he is facing. The My Sense mode is the everyday mode, with an “electric effect” that is very present and easy to maintain or repeat, whether in urban use or at higher speeds. Eco mode is based on a less dynamic and more dosable accelerator pedal mapping. The Sport mode takes advantage of the engine’s full potential in terms of response time and performance.

Connectivity

It benefits from the Renault CONNECT offer, the gateway to all Renault connected services. This offer includes the MY Renault mobile application to manage your vehicle remotely, and the Renault EASY LINK multimedia system, which gives access to a whole range of functions from the car’s touch screen.

Design

On the outside, Clio E-TECH Hybrid is distinguished by a specific rear skirt and E-TECH Hybrid badges on the central pillar as well as on the trunk door. A “Hybrid Blue” customization pack is also available on the exterior and interior, underlining the vehicle’s membership of the Renault electric vehicle family.
