The queen of versatility, New Mégane is positioned in this E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid version as a “core market” offer focused on customer expectations and offering a unique driving experience. Available as a sedan and Estate wagon, New Megane E-TECH Plug-in combines its two facets with the electric driving experience, with no autonomy constraints.

Engine

New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid is equipped with a state-of-the-art hybrid motorization that works thanks to 3 engines. A 1.6-liter gasoline engine specially optimized for hybridization is associated with two electric motors coupled in a series-parallel scheme. This means that the system can use both energies (gasoline or electricity) individually or in synergy. This perfect harmony between the different engines means that New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in achieves an average fuel consumption of just 1.3 liters/100 km for 28 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer.

Autonomy

Its battery with a capacity of 9.8 kWh (400V) makes it possible to drive in 100 % electric mode up to 135 km/h over 50 kilometers in mixed cycle (WLTP) and up to 65 kilometers in urban cycle (WLTP City).

Recharge

In order to maximize the autonomy in electric mode, the battery is recharged by plugging it in (between 3 and 5 hours depending on the type of outlet, including domestic). When the battery is discharged, the New Capture E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid works like a “full hybrid” E-TECH model, with all the advantages of this motorization such as systematic starting in electric mode and reduced consumption.

Versatility

New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid can operate without consuming fuel on everyday journeys (up to 65 km in the city) and take the family on weekends or vacations on long trips. Regardless of the battery charge state, this model benefits from the major advantages of the E-TECH hybrid system: systematic starting in electric mode and reduced fuel consumption.

Driving experience

The driving experience behind the wheel of New Mégane E-TECH Hybrid is based first and foremost on the priority given to the use of electric traction. Since every start is 100% electric, the driving experience is the same as that of an electric vehicle, with instantaneous response to acceleration. Comfort is improved on board thanks to the silence of the engines. Special work has been done to find the right compromise on the road between dynamic behavior and comfort. The rear axle has been replaced by a semi-rigid axle with a multi-link system, and suspension settings have been adapted to preserve driving dynamics.

Driving modes

The driver benefits from dedicated MULTI-SENSE settings with 3 driving modes: Pure mode, which allows the driver to switch to 100% electric driving, subject to sufficient reserve; My Sense mode optimizes the hybrid mode for reduced operating costs; and finally, Sport mode allows the driver to take advantage of maximum performance by combining the power of the internal combustion and electric motors.

Connectivity

New Mégane E-TECH Hybrid benefits from Renault CONNECT services, notably through the MY Renault application. For example, these services allow the user to optimize journeys to encourage the use of the electric motor and battery recharging, and to manage this recharging remotely.

Design

This version benefits from stylistic details specific to the E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid: the charge door is located on the right, symmetrically to the fuel door on the left. “E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid” badges are affixed to the trunk door and the side pillar, and a blue ring surrounds the wheel caps.
